Seppuku - Part of the Bushido code for Samurai where a Samurai would take a small blade, the Tanto blade, and pierce themselves in the stomach, slicing from left to right, disemboweling themselves. This retained their honor and kept them from being captured by the enemy, where torture was most likely to take place, on the battle field. Seppuku is also used in times of serious offenses committed that cause dishonor and/or shame. :|
