Sept. 1 I desire to be found by you, and I orchestrate the events of your life with that purpose in mind. When things go well and you are blessed...when you encounter rough patches along your life-journey...My continual Presence with you is an absolute promise. One of my favorite motivational teacher movies is Mr. Hollands Opus a story of a man who had aspirations of writing music for a living. However, life happened. With a wife, a mortgage, a child born deaf, and bills to pay, he resorts to teaching music at a high school. He continues to work on his musical masterpiece over the years as time permits, but becomes more and more involved in producing music within these students lives...marching band, orchestra, private lessons, the annual school musical... He finally looks up one day after about 30 years and thinks his life and dreams have slipped away...his life has amounted to nothing...he hasnt done what he had intended with his life. The music program is cut from the budget, and he must retire as a failure. But as he leaves with a small box of personal belongings, he goes into the auditorium one last time only to find it filled with his students from over the years who have returned to honor their teacher by playing his lifes symphony which he had written over the past 30 years. Although not what he had planned, and certainly not always harmonious, Mr. Holland has produced a wonderful masterpiece through the lives of his students. Thats what God is doing in our lives. Through the sharps and flats, through the harmonies and the melodies, through the pounding drums and the lighthearted flute, He is orchestrating a beautiful masterpiece of each of our lives. He desires to know us...and for us to seek and know Him. He desires to work in our lives through the ups and downs, the good and the bad, to make His music, His light, flow through us. While he is creating His work in us, Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. And let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. Hebrews 10:23-24
