Sept 2009 a very special little pally filly was born, 12 months later we met and purchased this little cow bred ( Freckles Jay Jay breeding) filly called Champas, at the time...I couldnt stick to the name Champas as it was just a little too frilly for me undecided what we would call her I decided I would wait til I had gotten to know her, a few days after arriving here she was lapping around a paddock and ran under a tree ripping her ear off so Bimbo she became the dumb blonde. Bimbo was not destined to be a show horse, after her ear was replaced back onto her head, she went to a couple of shows placing well then ran along a fence line ripping out her thigh, 186 stitches later she show career was finished. As a 2yo we sent her away to be started under saddle, Im not sure if it was a poor choice in breakers at the time or a horse that was just not going to be rode, but after several months it was decided she was just not going to be a riding horse, she would buck so hard she would break the girth points out of saddles. By this time this super sweet little mare on the ground had cost me an arm and a leg I didnt want to dog her because she was so sweet and kiind to handle, the rodeo strings I contacted didnt want her due to her age and size so I did something I never believed in before that time. I bred her, knowing full well this could be the start of a bucking dynasty, my thoughts were if the first foal is a bucker then the lot will go. First foal was BGW In the Spotlight ( ABBEY), she has won all over the country and one of the best youth horses we had the pleasure of coming across, safe for any one to ride, Abbey has won too many events to list from club, State and National level and a true all rounder winning from halter, western events, hacking and dressage. Abbey was followed by BGW Spiderman, BGW TomKat and BGW Charmin the Bar (all owned by my dear friend Tracy Challens) the following year she had a buckskin filly that India fell in love with that she now owns and barrel races, the very promising BGW Bimbo Roc (Molly) Molly was followed by BGW De Ja Va who I was keeping for myself but after over two years of nagging me I eventually sold her to another dear friend in Tory Kooyman. Bimbo was then bred to the stunning Desgner Pakage (imp) she gave us a gorgeous pally filly BGW Designer Bimbo who is now a yearling and will remain with us for a future brood mare. This last season Bimbo gave us a cremello filly by PC Peppys Jack Frost ( currently unnamed) who will also be remaining with us. Sadly she was in foal to our stallion BGW Spot On when we had to end her life. I am so heartbroken at losing Bimbo, she was such a calm uncomplicated mare, always the first one to be caught, easy to load, always got along well with other mares and would let any foal that wanted a suck nurse from her. She taught me so much about temperament and not to throw a horse aside without giving it a chance, as this very nearly is what I did with her, I started out almost hating her after all the money spent and not having a useful horse but I soon grew to love her and admire her for what she gave to us. 14 years of age is far too soon to be loosing a much loved horse, she was in the prime of her life, she loved being a broodmare, was so easy to get in foal and foal out, her foals have always been so gentle and kind a quality they inherited from thier Mother but also a quality that she nutured them with. It will be some time before I am finished grieving, the pain is too raw for me to speak of. We rushed her to Adeliade hoping that she may have been a candidate for theatre but she was well into shock by the time she arrived that 3 hour journey is not the optimum in situations like this. But at least I know we tried every option to give her a chance to make it, it was just not meant to be, she was laid to rest in Adelaide and brought home to be buried on the farm with Peppy and her old mates that have passed before her. There is a very special strip in the middle of our paddock where these much loved ladies rest. A spot I visit regularly to enjoy the quiet time with my old loves. Bimob I thank you for the 13 years you gave me, for the wonder ful prodgeny you have given me. I am so sorry there is nothing more I could do to make you right, fly free my sweet king mare. I will be with you again one day in fields of green xxx
