Sept. 9/11. I was at the check in counter at a hotel in Owerri. I had traveled almost non stop for three days and just wanted to lay down and sleep. The clerk at the counter continued to be distracted by the TV, thereby delaying my check in. I dumped on him. He apologized and said the US was under attack. I thought he meant, like in a soccer game, the US side was under attack. I screamed at him to give me the keys and he can continue to watch the game. He then said "Oga, dis one no be game. Bad ting done happen"!. It was not what he said that made me turn around to look at the TV. It was the sheer terror in his voice. I turned around and looked. And looked. And looked. And the second aircraft hit. I just froze there. And the tears just rolled down. We must never cuddle terror.
