Sept 9th Question? I am strapped for time and unable to go home for lunch and do not have access to my kitchen, and not enough time to go thru a fast food restaurant,,what can I do? You can take your lunch, pack your lunch. Having pre-cooked foods-- such roasted or broiled chicken, poached salmon, or strips of grilled sirloin steak, or roast beef-- in the your refrigerator ready-to-go is helpful. Fill a container with salad greens and chopped raw veggies and add your protein and dressing of your choice on top before eating. Some grocery stores in town offer a meal deal in which you can pick up grilled chicken and 2 sides for lunch. You can carry your food from home in a airtight container and eat cold or reheat in microwave. If you are unable to eat within 4 hours or so due to work and had to skip lunch, you can have a snack, such as a handful of almonds,a mix of nuts or olives, cheese, half an avocado drizzled with olive oil, or 2 hard boiled eggs, a Caprese salad: 1 sliced tomato topped with fresh sliced mozarella cheese, drizzled with olive oil, basil, salt and pepper, just to name a few. Be sure to drink 3 to 5 glasses of water a day and I said yesterday you can have tea, or green tea periodically. Also for every caffeinated beverage you consume include an extra 12 to 16 oz of water. Almond milk is also a healthy choice. Your goal is to kep your blood sugar balanced 24/7. You can do it. Just plan ahead the night before and prepare your lunch or even breakfast the night before.
