September 1, 1965 - James Brown and Booker T. & the MGs appeared on Shindig! One of the popular TV shows that came out in the mid 60s aimed at the youth audience. It came out as a replacement for the show, Hootenanny, that had capitalized on the folk revival which had fizzled. It was a variety show that featured popular bands and singers of the day, both British and American as well as dancers.
