September 1-7: I am praying you get some kind of revelation through this. You might have to read it more than once-- i did. This prayer topic is in connection with the prayer topic: words. Another passage to Words is Colossians 3:8-10. The main verse was Ephesians 4:29. Notice it uses the words edification and grace. In my bible Ecclesiastes 10:12 and Colossians 4:6 are the notes by the word edification. Words from the mouth of a wise man are gracious. Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to everyone. The word is telling us to speak the life we have in Christ Jesus, full of grace. To do this, Philippians 4:8 must be put into action. Finally brethren, whatever is true, whatever is noble (or honorable), whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely (or lovely and gracious), whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things. I learned at one summer camp that scientific research has found that the heart can store memories, and if the brain thinks about something so much, the thought will grow so strong and big that the brain will transfer the thought to the heart. We know that in Matthew 12:34 Jesus says, the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart(NASB) Thoughts, the. heart, then words. We are to speak graciously. So think on the life you have in Christ. What gets into your mind? What you see and hear. Once we make it natural to choose to fix our eyes (mind, thoughts) on Jesus, once we spend more and more time in the spirit--focusing on the things of God--, we will see the fruits of the spirit grow in our lives. (Being in spirit will produce fruit of the spirit) But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. The Word is the best tool to give our thoughts discipline. For the Word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, an piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12) It is light. The entrance of your words give light; it gives understanding to the simple. (Psalm 119:130) Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105) Jesus is the Word made flesh (John 1:14: and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw his glory, glory a of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.); and in Him was life, and the life was the light of men. (John 1:4) We are made to love life- to love Jesus, the Word, and His instructions. Those who love Your instructions have great peace (peace reminds me of the fruit of the spirit), and nothing causes them to stumble. (Psalm 119:165) To love & follow someone, you must have some knowledge of what they do/did. seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. (2 Peter 1:3) So everything pertaining to life and godliness is accessed through the knowledge of Him. Proverbs 1:7 says, the fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge… We need to love His word and instructions. This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. (Joshua 1:8) Psalm 119:165 (HCSB): Abundant peace belongs to those who love Your instruction; nothing makes them stumble. Again, to fear (reverence) someone or something, you must know what they did. In John 10:5, Jesus says, A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers. Look at Jesus. In Him is life and the life is the light of men (John 1:4). The life is the what Jesus taught, (He came so we might have life and life more abundantly; He is the good Shepard; the good Shepard lays down his life for the sheep. (John 10:10-11)) its what we need to speak meditate on, think on and then speak(it might be preaching sometimes) on this earth. In John 8:12 Jesus said, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life. Follow Jesus. You have life. You are made to speak the life. God supplies seed for the sower: you speak life(it is light)-other people hear, have faith, and are in the place to accept Jesus to be saved-and the word says you will have whatever you say (mark 11:23-24) when having faith (2 Corinthians 5:7). Ask God to give you revelation on this and grow you in the knowledge of Him, and to help you follow Christ (Ephesians 5:1 be imitators of Christ) so you will have the light of life (the life is the light to the world). And pray that people see Jesus; and get a supernatural hunger for the Word so they get Jesus/the Word in their minds and hearts…and words. Maybe you are determined to never let the Word be taken from you. Taken by a person, a belief, a disobedience… but at the end of the day you might find yourself feeling that throughout the day the lesser important things were seemingly very important so you didnt get to spend time in the Word. And maybe you wanted to, but because of other peoples demands, the time never showed up. But somewhere in the Word it asks us why we are letting ourselves be submitted to the worldly precepts. (Do not touch, dont handle) (that doesnt mean we go and rob all the banks and not stop at the stop light, but it means we dont have to let the world put limits on us when our relationship with God is not up to them.) You also can let the Word be taken from you by the events/things you set up, let control your time with God, and take your eyes away from the truth. Those things are hinderances of the connection you have with God and stumbling blocks in your way. Remember to not let things like cooking, texting, socializing (the list goes on and on) get you away from the Word. What might help is this: at the end of the day write down all the things that took the Word (and/or fellowship with God) away from you that day--took your life, your light, your answer, your peace, … cmon. Get zealous!!--and the next day practice either abstaining from overindulgence of the thing or making the most necessary point to bring/put/allow Him there so that nothing (not on your to-do list, not the excuse of you being in the store, public area, etc., not your own flesh & forgetfulness) will take the Word from you. The Word is your life, the life you speak. P.S. If you stay in the Word, get it in your eyes ears mind heart & words, it will become habit to fill your conversation (and actions) with Him, gracious and loving, it will be easier to talk to people about Him being effective & easier to keep your thoughts always on Jesus!
