September 13- Vera Baboun is the first woman ever to be Mayor of Bethlehem being elected last year. She was an English professor at the Catholic University of Bethlehem for 20 years and a champion of the emancipation of women in the Arab world. Her vision is to convince young people to stay in Bethlehem but presently, they cannot live a full life there due to living in a perennial climate of war. The Wall of Separation built by the Israelis on Palestinian territory suffocates the economic advancement and blocs tourism, commerce and job opportunities. Bethlehem is not only a Palestinian city but a global one due to the Christian message it has. Among other issues, let us pray for Mayor Baboun to accomplish her efforts to make Bethlehem a sacred place of pilgimage as the honored birthplace of Jesus our Savior.
