September 1st ~ Entering into the last third of the year 2014; the time when school traditionally starts - signalling a new beginning to learning season. This is what I want you and Facebook to learn about me: Since the invention of SPAM (not the meat product) and its ever-increasing use on Facebook, my news feed has been massively inundated with things which I clicked like once upon a time. I have, therefore, thinned the herd by clicking UNLIKE on many things on that list. (Get that?) Its not because I dont like them any more, its just that I dont like the SPAM Im getting on an increasingly frequent basis - Hell bent on selling me something I dont want, need or have the inclination or have interest in, while disguising their posting as news. Facebook must profit for its shareholders, you understand. Im also tired of well-meaning political posts - on BOTH sides of the spectrum. Trust me, your copy/paste .gif/.jpg arguments are never going to influence my thoughts, my vote or induce me to any action that is beyond my own purposes. Get over it. To further indicate my resolve, I have disabled (App cant uninstalled) all Facebook features on my cell phone. I just grew tired of answering every little bling indicating another Ad or cat video or water dumping episode was added to my Facebook news feed. Enough, already. What began as a method to casually remain electronically in-touch with family and friends has evolved into yet another marketing ploy to sell more unnecessary goods and services. Good luck with that paradigm, but I am no longer persuaded. This is the next to final step in totally eliminating my personal participation in this particular social media meme. The novelty has worn-off and no longer amuses. Happy Labor Day.
