September 21, 2014, New York City. I and my family traveled to United Nations high level plenary meeting where thousands of indigenous peoples gathered to voice and secure their rights to their homelands and ways. We visited with the producer of Indian Country Today, and met indigenous relatives from around the world. We attended the Climate March and filmed what we could, there were a couple hundred thousand people without end there. These different movements invoked a deep sense of belonging, and while there we felt the unity that indigenous peoples had created, it was something different. It is a powerful experience to hear the stories of our relatives and their struggles, but to know that in this collective struggle is a determination, resilience, and courage to continuously stand together. We all do what we can in order to succeed the next generation into a extraordinary future, where they will find a collective means that will allow them secure our rights and indigenous way of life for many more generations to come. Take courage, blehiciyapo
