“September and October of 2008 was the worst financial crisis in - TopicsExpress

“September and October of 2008 was the worst financial crisis in global history, including the Great Depression,” said Ben Bernanke, the former Chairman of the Federal Reserve. We all know this. We lived it. Non-profits were hit hard and many closed their doors. Survival is a triumph. Daily Devotions survived, but barely. In 2012 and in 2013, Daily Devotions was quietly saved from extinction by two charitable hearts, both of modest means, who left a portion, or all, of their small estates as charitable bequests to First Radio Parish Church of America. They set up their bequests years in advance. I am not kidding when I say — had it not been for these two unexpected charitable bequests, the Lamp Daily Devotions of would be have gone permanently dark. Giving was and is down because everyone was, and many still are, in financial trouble. Just to be clear, WCSH 6 and WLBZ 2 are the best TV hosts ever. They provide Daily Devotions with a charitable in-kind donation for our production and broadcasting. That is huge! Our actual annual budget is one hundred and ten thousand dollars ($110,000) and is raised solely from the people who love Daily Devotions. Our budget is tiny for what we do, and we carefully, and transparently, manage every penny of it. As you consider your estate planning, please consider a charitable bequest to First Radio Parish Church of America. Let’s Pray: Dear God, we ask that You touch the hearts of those who love Daily Devotions that they may remember Your Light in their estates. Amen. Here’s a Thought: Charity is treasure stored in Heaven.
