Sergeant Jonathan Beach from Digbeth Police Station has released CCTV footage of a woman being assaulted during Birmingham Pride in May. The attack happened on Hurst Street at around 6PM on Sunday 25th May when a man in the crowd fell into the woman during a disagreement with someone else. As she reacted, he grabbed her around the neck and pushed her to the floor. He then walked off through the crowd. Sergeant Beach, said: This was an unprovoked assault at a time when everyone was enjoying this immensely popular event. It happened in the middle of a large crowd with many witnesses. The attacker was wearing a distinctive purple cap and a purple T-shirt. I am sure that someone will know who he is and I would urge them to contact me. The man is described as being black and around 5ft 6ins tall. He is also thought to have been wearing purple trousers or shorts. Please call 101 if you have ANY information.
