Sergeant Wayne Lynn from the Longreach Patrol Group (pictured with his wife) has been presented with a clasp for 30 years of service to the Queensland Police. He says hes spent more than half his time as a police officer in the Longreach area. “One day you might give a fellow a ticket, and the next day you might be with him in the aisle at the IGA. So that can get a little bit uncomfortable. But people take it in their stride, it is just how you treat people really. People know you have got a job to do, and they know if they get into trouble theyve transgressed to a degree and we deal with them in a fair and proper way.” The Assistant Commissioner Tony Wright was in Longreach yesterday to hand out ten awards for officers from the central west region.
