Serious Gaming - tonight! Gaming party will take place tonight 30 October in Era Svět, Jungmann sq 767/6 from 19:00 in English, free entrance, registration at [email protected]. DANIEL SCHWARZ from Takomat shows the evolution of their serious games from simulating the reality to manipulating the reality by gaming. While the first learning games tried to transfer schoolbooks into games, the second generation simulated up-to-date scientific knowledge and real-world data. The latest generation of Takomat’s games (currently under research & development) will help people to manipulate reality. IVOR DIOSI belongs to Central European legends of new media art – especially because of his courage, earnest and controversial approach to ideas and extraordinary programmer skills. He was the first person in Slovakia who use the 3D engine of action game Unreal for interactive artistic installation (We don´t play anymore) and also others of his projects have been always crossing borders between gaming and artistic usage of 3D simulation and modelling (Castanedize, Home Dictate, vert.ego, etc.). His actual artwork Qualia Project (interactive images which change organically as they are being observed by the audience) provided him nomination to prestige gallery Lumen 2014 World Tour. He was awarded in the international competition at CyNeArt 2014 in Dresden. Within the evening Ivor Diosi is going to present his installations based on gaming engines and proceedings. He will flow through various topics related to the dangerous area of art and massively commercialized consumerist entertainment, between computer simulation as a tool of “amusing to the death” or as a mean of arousal. Does it exist or is it just a naïve wishfull thinking of digital artists…? The VETLICAT project is supported by Leonardo Da Vinci Project, Transfer of Innovation.
