Serious concerns about amendments to the Migration Act. “These refugees have not been charged or convicted of any offence, yet they face indefinite detention, with limited opportunity for review of their adverse assessment, and no opportunity to be reunited with family here or abroad,” said Commission President, Professor Gillian Triggs. “This legislation fails to address the human rights violation facing these refugees, and entrenches the legislative framework that gives rise to these violations,” she said.
