Seriously Amazon #SaddleRidgeHoard prices are ridiculous. 1867S Gold $20 Type 2 Liberty Head in AU50 for $4,250!?! Numismatic Guaranty Corporation - NGC has that coin listed for only $2,950. I find it very convenient that PCGS prices jumped up this week to be conveniently $1K more then the Amazon prices... hmmmm..... In case you did not know PCGS is the grader who graded this find. Ok I get that buried treasure is cool... but $2K cool? I think not and in case you wonder if I am biased I do not have any gold coins for sell nor do I plan on having any in the near future and I am sure as not going to try to get my hands on these coins. My advice, if you want to buy 1800s gold coin check out NGCs prices and then search eBay or your local coin store for a PCGS / NGC graded coin that is not part of this sensationalized drama and pay a fair price for it. Amazon, you may want to walk over an aisle and read a book that you sell about pricing coins. Instead what is going to happen is since not a whole lot of these kind of coins are bought and sold each year the sell of these coins will get computed into price sheets and the prices are going to sky rocket. If you already own one or five this is your lucky year. Your $20 gold coin is about to double in value.
