Sermon Connect 3-10-14 Genesis 3:1-21 –“Knowledge – A Dangerous Thing” Yesterday’s preacher was The Rev. Dr. Patrick Ferry, President of Concordia University Wisconsin. His sermon title immediately caught my attention – “Knowledge – A Dangerous Thing.” Shouldn’t the president of a university be proclaiming the benefits of higher education and that knowledge is a good thing? The sermon text was Genesis 3 where Adam and Eve’s desire to “know” everything God knew led to the first sin. The result: We are now born not only with the “knowledge” of sin, but as sinful human beings. Now we Lutheran Christians value education as much as anyone. However, there are no undiscovered facts that will change the reality of our sin. You see when it comes to dealing with sin; it is not about “what” you know but rather “who” you know that matters. So when it comes to your salvation – trust in Christ alone. However, when it comes to making a positive impact in this world – by all means, gain as much knowledge as you can. You might even check out one of the great schools that make up the Concordia University System.
