Sermon Notes September 6th 2014 Michael J Communion Today How many tried the things at the mall we talked about last time. We talked about the Red Dot and how god will meet you right there. Irvin McManus is senior pastor of Mosaic in LA. He has some really good things to say about the christian life. To live like a barbarian. I dont believe the imagery the church uses is correct. We are in a spiritual war. I made a patch for Brad that said Barbarian with a sword under it. The barbarian way. Today we will talk about innovation. I dont think that the status quo is the way to go. If we dont try different things we dont know if that can be done. Sometimes reaching out to the lost requires innovation. Then MJ read from Genesis 1 first few verses. Just as the Holy Spirit was innovating in Genesis he was also innovating in the New Testament as well. Tell your friends that you know about the Biker Church and they say , biker church, whats that. It was innovative to start this church, kind of out of the box. Our father in heaven is an innovator. We should be innovators as well. If we wait for someone else to do something it may not get done. Those who fight our wars that are out front are closest to death. We are called to be at the front lines for Christ. The closer you walk with Christ the greater the faith required. If you embrace his sacrifice you will join in the christian life. If we plan to keep step with Jesus we better expect some changes in life. Our barbaric faith teaches us that we may not have the best life in this world but we will have what we need. Jesus is calling us out to fight the good fight of faith. By faith many of the OT patriarchs were commended for doing gods will. We should hear that call differently than civilized Christians. Jesus died on the cross, why should we be surprised then at the places he sends us to do his will. When the going gets tough most will not stand by your side and some will try to persuade you to abandon your calling saying that God would never require you to make such a sacrifice. Don’t you believe it. Stick with the calling God has given you. We ended with Mighty To Save youtube/watch?v=iB-yX5p0p4I
