Sermon Title : Jacob Bible : Genesis 25:26~34 , 32:24~32 The names meaning of Jacob is with hand grasping the heel. Jacob was a grand son of Abraham, who was born as the boy twin from the parent Issac and Rebekah. And he became the ancestor for descendants of the twelve families. At that time, Jacob dissatisfied with his second birth because of exception of the eldest son blessing and right. So Jacob wanted to get a chance for the eldest sons blessing and right. One day, the chance happened to him. When Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country and he was famished(Ge.25:29). Esau want to eat the stew and asked it for Jacob. Jacob replied, First sell me your birthright Esau said Look, Im about to died. What good is the birthright to me? Jacob said again Swear to me Do Esau swore an oath to Jacob, selling his birth right to Jacob(Ge.25:33). And Jacob deceived Issac again cause of Issacs eyes weaked and he couldnt no longer see. And by helping of his mother Rebekah. Issac was deceived by the goatskins like Esau. And Issac blessed Jacob with the birthright. Therefore, Esau began to hate Jacob and tried to kill him. So, Jacob fleed from his own home to Paddan Aram where his mothers father Laban lived. In journey to Paddan Aram, Jacob met the Lord in dream. In the night, God visited the place where Jacob was lied down. Jacob had a dream in which he saw a stair way resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. There above it stood the Lord, and he said; Im the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Issac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. At that time, Jacob could remember what God had promised Abraham(Ge.28:13~14). And more God promised Jacob at the bad situation. In Ge.28:15 Im with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave until I have done what I have promised you. Jacob was afraid of Gods presence to him. Early the next morning, Jacob took the stone as a pillar when lied-down and poured oil on top of it and he called that place Bethel. Then Jacob msde a bow and saying If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my fathers house, then the Lord will be my God and this that I have set up as a pillar will be Gods house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth(Ge.28:20~22) In Jacobs vow and declaration for a tenth, Jacob believed that God will guide and protect him for him. Twenty years later, Jacob had a journey to home and arrived at the Ford of the Jabbok, Peniel where he had a fasting night praying. And therefore, he was changed in all personally. In whole life of Jacob, there was nothing so great event as dramatic marked change in Peniel. Even though, Jacob had a lot mistake and faults, he asked for the blessing to God. And in the suffering and sorrowful life, he wanted to receive the grace of God. God loved such a man Jacob and gave a compassion. 1. 야곱은 하나님의 은혜를 사모하였다. Jacob had a burning desire to receive Gods grace from his young. 2. Even though, Jacob had a lot of faults but his burning faith made him be called Israel and become the head of Isreal tribe. 3.
