Sermon Title: Understanding The Power Of Dreams - Dreams & Dreamers Scriptural Reference: Job 33:13-18, 4:13-19, 42:7-8, Matthew 13:25 Occurrences in history have proven that dreams are very powerful and influential. Dreams have power to impact the life of a person(s). Emperor Constantine won a fierce battle as a result of his obedience to an instruction he had in his dream. In his dream, God showed him a cross and said to him that the victory he needs in his impending battle will be won in the cross. When he woke up he instructed all his men to make the sign of the cross on their swords and shields. They went to battle and they overcame the enemy. One dream Emperor Constantin had brought victory to a whole kingdom. Josephs dreams brought Egypt salvation and deliverance from 7years of deadly famine. Dreams are a divine revelation from God for man. God sometimes bring answers to our prayer request(s) through dreams and visions. Sources Of Dreams 1. From God These are referred to as spiritual or prophetic dreams. These are dreams that God gives to a person for divine direction, instructions and correction. 2. From our own souls These are known as soulish or natural dreams. These are borne out of our worries, anxieties, thoughts, emotions and wishes. 3. From the influence of certain foods and medications It has been medically and scientifically proven that certain foods and medications when taken can make us have dreams. 4. From satan and demonic visitations - Job 4:13-19 These are known as satanic/demonic dreams. Satanic or demonic dreams are sent by the devil with the intention to confuse and embarrass a believer and to cause him or her to give up faith and trust in God so he becomes vulnerable and exposed to the attacks of the devil. Anytime you have such a dream you must refute it and deal with it in prayer. Examples of dreams that must not be joked with 1. When you dream and find yourself in the dark and under great stress: It means that confusion, enslavement, persecution, maltreatment, difficult and challenging times are about to befall you. - Genesis 15:12-14 2. When you dream and see that you are being forcefully injected especially by a strange person: This means that a strange disease is being introduced into your body by the devil. 3. When you dream and see that your hair is shaven or a strange personality is shaving you: This means that your glory is being taken or about to be taken from you. It also means that your destiny is under satanic attack. It is an indication that you are about to lose something very important, significant and precious - 11 Corinthians 11:15 4. When you dream and see pepper or eating pepper: It means that something negative and unpleasant is about to happen to you. 5. When you dream and find yourself in the cemetery or among corpses: It means an arrow of untimely or sudden death is about to hit you. 6. When you dream that you have been shot or hit by a bullet: It means death has been released against you. It is also an indication that you will be a victim of bad and negative circumstances. 7. Constant bleeding in your dreams when pregnant: It means that you are about to have a miscarriage. Repetitive dreams are an indication that what you are dreaming about will certainly happen unless you deal with it in prayer - Genesis 41:25 Principles For The Interpretation Of Dreams 1. Understand that interpretation of dreams depend largely on the circumstances before, during and after the dream. Dreams can also be culturally related. 2. Understand that interpretation of dreams come from God - Genesis 41:15-16 3. Interpretation of dreams come through prayer. - Daniel 1:17 Never leave your dreams unattended to because dreams are an indication of coming future events.
