Service tax is doubled in Montoursville December 2, 2014 By JENNIFER COOPER (jcooper@sungazette), Williamsport Sun-Gazette Montoursville Borough Council adopted an amendment to the local service tax, increasing it from $26 to $52 at the council meeting Monday night. The local service tax is payable by all individuals who work in the borough, except those who make less than $12,000 per year. The amendment passed with a 5-1 vote, with Mark Tillman, Dennis Holt, Don King, Rosemary Holmes and Dave Moyer voting yes and Christopher Lucas voting no. In previous meetings, Moyer had fought for the increase because surrounding areas all are charging a higher tax than Montoursville. Read the full story in todays Sun-Gazette.
