Servicing schedules - Most Australian sold cars do not follow the same service schedules as the rest of the world. While your logbook might have neatly set out 15,000km increments to stamp each service, reading the fine print of that same service book will often show a different schedule for Severe Operating Conditions, often recommending servicing every 7,500-10000km. What are these conditions - They vary, but the common ones are -Stop start city driving, frequent short distance, driving in temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius or below -2, driving in dusty conditions. Sound familiar? Of course they do, in fact Toyota goes as far as stating in their logbook that any car sold in Australia must follow the Severe Maintenance Schedule. The point is, the logbook is not a sacred doctrine; we use it as a guide to custom suit a maintenance schedule to each customer that is economical and provides the best reasonable protection for their car.
