Setting: At the Roseland Ballroom Tattoo Convention, last Saturday. -A conversation between myself, and the Little Old Japanese Man (whom we will call LOJM) Me: Sir...how much is this? (buffalo bone skull bracelet) LOJM: Feebsteen. Me: Fifteen? LOJM: Feebsteen. Me: Fif-teen? (now holding up fingers- first 1, then 5) LOJM: Feeeebb-steeeen. Me: Fifteen?! (again, holding up fingers- first 1, then 5) LOJM: Yeeessss...feebsteen. Me: Okay, cool...fifteen. (again, holding up fingers) Do you take credit? LOJM: Yeesss...credeet...yeesss. Me: Okay...you *are* saying FIF-TEEN, right?? One, five? (again, holding up fingers) LOJM: Yeesss, feeb-steen. (And the four other people around me confirmed that he was saying that too...) I just looked at my bank statement...FIFTY. He was trying to say FIFTY the whole time...even after the countless times that I held my fingers up. To answer your pending questions: -No, he couldnt give me a receipt...he had payment set up through his iPhone, and didnt have a printer. -I SWORE that the total said $15 when I signed my name. -The shop is located in Orlando, FL...and yes, I will be calling them. Lesson learned - Pay cash, kids...its safer that way. =/
