Seven days experience as Acting IGP Punjab was a horrible experience. Now I realize that why the police leadership fail to deliver. During these seven days, I could not sit in my office for more than one hour. I could not visit the gym and the field, and could not sleep till three in the morning. Lack of sleep and exercise affect your power of taking rational decisions. Meeting after meeting: five to six in a day. After one meeting prepared for the next meeting and then for the next. The last meeting used to end at about midnight. Postponement of a meeting is like a sword hanging above your head. You are conveyed agenda of some meetings late at night. No time to implement decision of the previous one. In some meetings, except an odd one, the IGP is relevant. The battery of cell phone has to be charged twice daily, as against once in two day. After retirement, I shall try to covey my feelings to the worthy Chief Minister.
