I owe my 37 year employment with BT to the fact I responded humorously to a job application reply I got to Miss Wilson who was told to write in again when she had left school. 3. In 1978 I spent a four hour shift in New Years Day answering calls on Directory Enquiries with directory enquiries which planet please - only one person noticed 4. When my daughter wanted a book about her favourite tram none existed - I wrote one for her and it sold 3000 copies. 5. I was responsible for the first election result broadcast on Radio Wave and Radio Lancashire in 1997 when Timone the Meerkat won the vote for adopted animal by the mixed infants of Westcliff Infants School. 6. I fought to get my children into Montgomery school by measuring paving stones counting the number to a measured point and challenging the Local Education Department to ensure we were not nearer than any child who had been given a place. They eventually conceded we were 13 metres nearer than one of the 208 who had got in. The distance involved was over 2300 metres. 7. I wanted to be in a newspaper advert and in 1996 was in an advertorial in The Sunday Mail with my family and Goldfish for the GOLDFISH credit card. I now nominate no one as I am not cruel xx
