Several black people whose stands and thoughts command my admiration post regularly, among other things, on their outrage about the violence reigned down upon Arabs in different locales by white folks in various locations. I do not share that outrage. Im realizing that there are some things that I should only say on the page assigned to me. One of those things is this: Arabs have been robbing, raping, torturing, maiming, murdering, and enslaving black people for longer than their counter-parts that are called white. Arabs are still doing all of those things to black people as I type these words. So, Ive absolutely no stake in their conflict right now with any other non-black people---except that, in any such conflict, I know it is advantageous to black people that both sides take as much damage as possible. War is hell. Thats for sure. Killing of sentient beings, particularly of those closest to our own type, should offend the spirit. The necessary suppression of that feeling is what most makes the hellishness of war.
