Several interesting bits of FL information. 1) So far this year, 25 children under the States Child Protective Services, have died !!!!! The State lawmakers demanded answers in a hearing today, and the State agency didnt have any. These kids would have been better off on the street! 2) Went to vote today, and after parking my car in the parking lot of the voting office, I had to pass lobbists with their signs for Mayor, Representative, and a City constitutional amendment. I told the polling place I thought it was the law that there couldnt be propaganda at the polling site. She said, as long as it is 100 away. I told her it is not far enough. I think I will try to get something on a future ballot. They were positioned between the polls and the parking, you had to pass them! Unfortunately voters are such sheep, for the most part, that they are influenced. 3) Former City councilman arrested last night for 3rd time this year. This time for driving a car in a 7-11 robbery. Last time for driving the car on a drug deal. 4) A doctor in Naples, FL (20 min from us) was caught on security tape stealing a $750 piece of art from the hospital....slipping it under his lab coat and walking out the door. Give me a break! Friggin Doctor stealing a print! 5) Interesting side note to the propaganda at polls here. Right on the street corners before several polls we saw people who looked like they just got out of jail or should be just going into jail, promoting various items on the ballot. The major one that all areas were promoting was a vote NO on prop. 1. Our prop 1 would ELIMINATE the Fort Myers Police Dept and farm out the responsibilities to the County Sherriff. The reason the prop. got on the ballot was every year the quantity of murders, 90% of which go unsolved, have gone up in the City. The Sherriff is a go-getter, and I think he deserves a chance to put an increased force to work to clean up the city before it turns into Chicago. Of course, the Police Chief and most police offers are opposed, because their job would no longer exist. The Sherriff says they will consider the police first for new jobs, BUT...the Sherriff requirements are much stricter than the police department; so many would certainly be out of work. I am hoping it was not city money, but there has been policemen passing out thousands of lawn signs, coming to Neighborthood Watches and passing signs, giving actually false information (in direct contrast to the murder numbers on the City public site). Anyway, of course, the criminal element is in support of NOT letting the Sherriff take over, since it is almost guaranteed, now, if they murder someone, they will not be apprehended, and they will not be brought to trial.
