Several years ago I used to be a flight attendant. The main part of my job was making sure the passengers were safe and that they knew the rules in case we had an emergency. The pilots and flight attendants had to endure many hours of intense training in order to be prepared for any situation! It’s been quite a while since I thought about this, but many of the commands we learned have stayed with me; “Please remain in your seats until the plane has come to a complete and final stop at the terminal building ” or “Please remain in your seats until the Captain has turned off the seatbelt sign, at which time you are free to move about the cabin,” were warnings that were well rehearsed and echoes in my mind even today. These and many other rules were designed for our "precious cargo" that they needed to know so that they could enjoy their flight with confidence and assurance that we would do our best to arrive at our final destination safely. Did you know that Jesus does the same for us here on earth? He gives us rules to live by, that are for our own good so that we will one day arrive to our final Destination safely. “Follow Me, and I will give you rest”, “I am the Way the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me,” “Be still and know that I am God,” “Trust in the Lord with all your heart,” “…that whoever believes in Him shall have eternal life;” and the list goes on. These “Commands” and love notes are just a few of the many we read in His Word (The Bible). They aren’t meant to scare or threaten us, but to help us in our walk in this life so that we know how to live (for Him) and what to do in case of an emergency, which we suffer and deal with every day. May these verses throughout the Bible resonate in your hearts and minds so that you will be able to go back to them, to remind you of His love for you, and that you are able to feel His presence knowing that He only has your best interests at heart, for your safe arrival into eternal life with Him. The Captain of the flight says, “Fasten your seatbelts. It could be a bumpy ride.” The Captain of Creation says, “But fear NOT, for I am with you always.” God may not give you an easy journey to the Promised Land, but He WILL give you a safe one! HOW GREAT IS THAT?
