Several years ago I visited the WWII Museum in New Orleans. It is a destination that should not be missed when visiting one of the greatest cities in the world. I spent 3 hrs. there but could have easily spent an entire day. Seeing rooms set up like actual barracks down to every detail, the weaponry and actual recordings of soldiers in the heat of battle, just to name a few of the exhibits, were emotionally overwhelming. But the veteran in his wheel chair with tears in his eyes had the greatest impact on me. The pain & memories were too obvious & we spoke for quite some time. History books are simply words & information that could never duplicate the emotion & spirit from this man. Ill never forget that gentleman. You leave with a sense of pride for all the women & men who served & sacrificed for our freedom & the freedom of our children. It shouldnt ever be taken for granted. My father is 94 yrs. old & wears his Veteran of WWII baseball cap everyday & everyday gets stopped by random individuals thanking him for his service. Thank you to every person who has served & especially my dad. Everyday that I get to spend with him is a blessing. Words of gratitude & appreciation will never be enough. Always thank a veteran for their service. They deserve our utmost respect.
