Severe Weather Bulletin 8 Tropical Cyclone Warning: Typhoon #YolandaPH (HAIYAN) Issued at 5:00 pm, 08 November 2013 TYPHOON “YOLANDA” HAS MAINTAINED ITS STRENGTH AS IT APPROACH THE CALAMIAN GROUP OF ISLAND. Location of eye/center: At 4:00 PM today, the eye of Typhoon “YOLANDA” was located based on all available data including Mactan Doppler Radar at 115 km west of Roxas City or over the water off the western coast of Antique. (11.4°N, 121.7°E). Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 215kph near the center and gustiness of up to 250 kph. Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 40 kph. Forecast Position:Typhoon “YOLANDA”is expected to be at 811 km West of Manila by tomorrow afternoon. It is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) around 10 am tomorrow morning. PSWS #4 (Winds of more than 185 kph is expected in at least 12 hrs) LUZON (Extreme Northern Palawan including Calamian Group of Islands, Southern Occidental Mindoro and Southern Oriental Mindoro) VISAYAS (Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Iloilo and Guimaras) PSWS #3 (Winds of 101 -185 kph is expected in at least 18 hrs) LUZON (Rest of Mindoro Provinces, Romblon and the Rest of Northern Palawan including Puerto PrincesaCity) PSWS #2 (Winds of 61-100 kph is expected in at least 24 hrs) LUZON (Lubang Island, Batangas, Marinduque, Rest of Palawan, Burias Island, Masbate and Ticao Island) VISAYAS (Negros Provinces, Cebu and Biliran Island) PSWS #1 (Winds of 30-60 kph is expected in at least 36 hours) LUZON (Metro Manila, Bataan, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, Camarines Provinces, Albay and Sorsogon) VISAYAS (Samar Provinces, Leyte Provinces,Camotes Island, Bohol and Siquijor) MINDANAO (Camiguin, Surigaodel Norte and Dinagat Province) • Public Warning Signal elsewhere are now lowered. • Yolanda is now traversing Sulu Sea and expected to cross Calamian Group of Islandbetween 8:00 – 9:00 pmthen will exit the Philippine landmass this evening towards the West Philippine Sea. • Estimated rainfall amount is from 10.0 - 20.0 mm per hour (Heavy - Intense) within the 400 km diameter out of 600 km diameter of the Typhoon. • Sea travel is risky over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and over the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon. • Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signal #4, #3, #2 and #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas under the aforementioned signal #4, #3 and #2 are alerted against storm surges which may reach up to 7-meter wave height. • The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today.
