Severe weather is again in todays forecast. The system that caused - TopicsExpress

Severe weather is again in todays forecast. The system that caused widespread tornadoes and damage yesterday is still to our west. As temperatures heat up this afternoon and the atmosphere because more unstable, we will see yet another round of severe storms. The storms will not likely be as strong as yesterday, but still a concerning because of an increased tornado and damaging wind threat. Forecast model parameters are a bit lower than yesterday, but enough to result in some tornadoes and damaging winds. The highest risk for severe weather will be areas west of I-65, but a tornado could occur anywhere in our viewing area. Storms may enter the western sections of our viewing area as early as 3 p.m. and track eastward through the afternoon. While supercell thunderstorms are possible, this system will be more of a squall-line with packing high winds, heavy rain, and frequent cloud to ground lightning. The storms are expected to move into central Alabama around 4 p.m. and east Alabame between 4 p.m. and midnight. Make sure you remain weather aware this afternoon and through this evening and remember all types of severe weather are possible including tornadoes, flooding, hail, and high winds. We will be heading into a much calmer weather pattern as we move into tomorrow with clearing skies and cooler temperatures.
