Sew Chateau is pleased to be able to support The Sacred Sewing Room on a monthly basis. Did you know that among industrialized nations, the United States has the largest number of homeless women and children? The Sacred Sewing Room is a program created by Enchanted Makeovers, a non-profit organization that transforms long-term stay homeless shelters for women and children into places that inspire behavioral and psychological change. This year, the Sacred Sewing Room program is embarking on a national tour to create a unique, beautiful and inspirational sewing room in five shelters across the country. Through this program, shelter residents will learn sewing basics that they can then use as a coping mechanism, an expression of creativity and a way to build a better future.
