Sgt. Matthew Glenn Mansfield, 46, of Montpelier, IN, passed away unexpectedly at 3:45 AM on Thursday, January 08, 2015 at IU Health-Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was born on Sunday, January 05, 1969. He married Charlotte Cook on Tuesday, September 27, 1991 in Montpelier. Matt was a 1989 graduate of Muncie Central High School and a 1992 graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Police Academy Class 92-110 in Plainfield. He had served on the Montpelier Police Dept. Unit #542 since 1991. He was a former member of the FOP and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking, shooting, archery, gardening and being outdoors. Matt loved spending time with his family and friends and will be forever missed by not only them, but the entire community. Survivors include his Parents Bob & Sandy (Reynolds) Mansfield, Hartford City, IN., Wife - Charlotte Mansfield, Montpelier, IN., Daughters - Ashley Marie Mansfield, Hartford City, IN., Makyla Marie Mansfield, Montpelier, IN., Son - Ethon Lee Mansfield, Montpelier, IN., Sister - Kamala Oswalt, Muncie, IN., Maternal Grandmother - Alice Reynolds, Hartford City, IN., Paternal Grandmother-Margaret Corner, Hartford City, IN., Great Aunt - Betty Vischer, Hartford City, IN., Grandson - Liam Mansfield, Hartford City, IN and several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his: Paternal Grandfather - Lee Mansfield, Maternal Grandfather - Walter J. Reynolds, Paternal Step Grandmother - Mary Mansfield, Paternal Step Grandmother - Thelma Mansfield, Paternal Step Grandfather – Willard Corner, Uncle - Charlie Mansfield and Granddaughter - Aria Gracie Marie Mansfield. Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Blackford High School 2392 SR. 3 Hartford City on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A service to celebrate Matt’s life will be at Blackford High School at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 with Pastor Cindy Smith officiating. Law Enforcement honors will be provided. Burial will follow in the Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Matt’s younger children, Makyla & Ethon Mansfield for their future education or Glancy Funeral Homes 109 W.
