Shame on you Mayor Parker and whoever gave you this terrible advice. Incrementalism should not mean throwing trans people under the bus ... again. The Mayor of Houston should be made aware how shameful it is for her decision to weaken the public accommodation rules for trans people in the citys non-discrimination law to the point of uselessness. Allowing business owners to discriminate against trans people when it comes to use of bathrooms may seem like a small provision to her, but it is a big deal for trans people. No other class of human being is denied access to restroom facilities based on a business owners assessment of their gender identity, but apparently its just fine to do it for trans people.
