Shamrock Today, TAF was called about a five month old female - TopicsExpress

Shamrock Today, TAF was called about a five month old female Chihuahua that had been brought into a local open access shelter in bad shape. A large portion of her fur was missing and her bare skin was sticky with urine. The facility thought that the cause of hair loss might be from urine burns but at that point it was anybody’s guess. TAF offered to take her into our program and bring her right over to the vet. When I picked up the tiny puppy, she looked like a PSA against puppy mills. If that didn’t make me mad, what I was about to walk past did… I came across a pup that was so emaciated that his head was sunken in. He had pressure sores on his back-side/spine and his eyes were caked over with mucous. The muscles in his hind legs had atrophied and his vertebras and hips were protruding… absolutely disgusting. This abused pup was so scared that he tucked his tail tightly between his legs until I could finally earn his trust. Both dogs are at the vet now and will be staying there until further medical testing can be done. We have decided to name the Chihuahua baby “Clover” and the emaciated pup “Shamrock”. It may be early for St. Patrick’s Day but these two need all of the luck that they can get. If you would like to help out by contributing to either of these pups medical care, please visit trioanimalfoundation.org.
