Shanklin said, I want to make clear this doesnt look anything like a 2009 event, but yet it does look like it could be some amounts that would meet our criteria of being considered a winter storm versus just a freezing rain event. Shanklin said a winter storm has at least .25 inches of ice, and this could cause significant problems for Friday mornings commute, and possibly even the afternoon drive time. He said most of the system should be out of the area by then, but the effects could remain.
