It has always been a cabal of rich men using the cover of national security to secure the resources of other nations and to control their governments to benefit their business interests. THE CIA orchestrated the overthrow of Mossadegh (using the same methods they tried in Venezuela against Chavez) and installed the puppet Shah. SAVAK was a CIA creation. CIA-trained torturers were installed in countries throughout Latin America. The CIA has always been active everywhere shaping geopolitics by any means necessary. The way the media, even alternative media, are shaping the current torture revelations its being made to appear that the post 9-11 extraordinary renditions and enhanced interrogation are a recent phenomenon, an anomaly. No, its business as usual. The truth has been known (or knowable) by US citizens at least since the 80s. They have been, for the most part, wilfully blind to it.
