Share prices extend gains for three consecutive days in early trading: KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia extended gains for three consecutive days in the early trading today, with buying interest confined to selected heavyweights and blue chips, dealers said. At 9.16am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gained 10.54 points to 1,775.49. HwangDBS Vickers Research said riding on the positive momentum generated over the past two days, the local bourse could extend its recovery today. "From a technical perspective, the benchmark FBM KLCI – already up 41.2-point or 2.4 per cent thus far this week – may climb towards the next resistance threshold of 1,785 ahead," it said in a research note today. The research house said key stock indices on Wall Street rose between 0.6 per cent and 0.8 per cent last night. "Essentially, overseas equities are turning up amid growing signs of easing geopolitical tension in Syria and stronger economic performance in China," it added. On the scoreboard, the Finance Index increased 76.58 points to 16,624.869, the Plantation Index improved 54.45 points to 8,331.65 and the Industrial Index edged up 0.67 of a point to 3,010.55. The FBM Emas Index garnered 68.26 points to 12,299.77, the FBM100 Index jumped 66.11 points to 12,049.38, the FBM 70 was 53.76 points higher at 13,888.14 and the FBM Ace climbed 39.93 points to 5,123.99. Gainers led losers by 273, with 1,269 counters unchanged. It was thin trading with volume at 232.119 million shares worth RM136.108 million. Among actives, Green Packet-WA and Sumated-WA rose 3.5 cents each to 17.5 cents and five cents, respectively, while Astral Supreme added 1.5 cents to 20 cents. Heavyweights, Maybank added two cents to RM10.10, Sime Darby rose six cents to RM9.54, CIMB gained seven cents to RM7.60 and Petronas Chemicals garnered eight cents to RM6.78. — Bernama dlvr.it/3xfhx2
