SATURDAY, 16 AUGUST 2014 UKIP Stall in Durham City Centre Proves A Hit Saturday saw UKIPs Young Independence wing in the North East got together to host the first of a sensational series of monthly stalls in Durham City Centre. The stall was met with interest, surprise and curiosity from local residents, with minimal hostilities. Durham, a historic and monumental city in North East England, has long been famed for its deep tied associations with the Labour Party. A Host to the famous Durham Miners Gala, the city upholds a proud and lasting Industrial heritage which has affirmed decades of the red flag being tied firmly to the mast. Yet todays events contributed another hand towards the wind of change which is now not just sweeping the nation, but the North East too. The stall was set up and running by 9am, within seconds a man had appeared from nowhere requesting an application form to join the party, saying hed been seeking to do so. Similar instances would repeat themselves throughout the day. On seeing a twitter post that the stall was running, another gentleman immediately set out to see it and discover how to join. By the afternoon, numerous membership application forms had been given out with several filled out and paid for on the spot. These people had little doubt and little hesitation, they knew what they wanted before they reached the stall. Picture---- Gordon Parkin, the partys regional organizer, holds up the VOTE UKIP banner for the camera. Other interested residents approached and expressed their support for the Party, many stating their disappointment and disillusionment with Labour and its legacy within the North East. They all recognized that not only is Labour incapable of solving the nations problems, but the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats are offering little alternative. For hundreds of voters in Durham, UKIP now presents a last hope for their nation in the face of the forces that seek to dismantle it. UKIP will bring change to County Durham, it will bring a people led politics that will inject life into a region that has seen much better days. Whilst the legacy of Labour stands as a testimony of the past, UKIP stands forwards into the future.
