Shared - Another summary of Fridays Gatwick Expansion Meeting held by Horley Town Council shared...... Yes, an interesting meeting! Not in a good way, though, shocking actually. I also didnt realise how extensive it would be. 90 million travellers! With roads being diverted, possible railway expansion, so many people will lose their homes. Horley will be very fragmented, if it actually survives. And all those jobs... mostly going to people to be recruited via schemes to get thousands of disadvantaged workers, from areas such as Croydon and upwards, into work. I expected to be told of SOME advantages to current residents, but if you dont own a business or want to work at Gatwick, there basically were NONE offered! The needed additions to the infra structure will be funded by local government, and as its already inadequate, thats very worrying. The congestion of the M25 is bad now, it will be the M23 likewise, if it goes ahead. The councillor was not objective, but clearly favoured the development, so that bodes well, not... The £1000 towards council tax will not compensate for the impossibility of selling your home, because no one is going to want to live in Horley, once its as carved up and concreted over as was implied... And the years of roadworks!!! I actually wish I hadnt gone.
