Shared by Peter..... On the 14th September Horley Lions will be holding a Donkey Derby in the Recreation Ground. Gates will open at 11.00am with the first race taking place at 12.00 noon. Racing will go on all afternoon and a Tote will be in operation. If any business or individual would like to sponsor one of the 8 races please contact us. The cost of sponsorship of a race is just £150. Conversely if you want to own a donkey for a race, the cost is just £20 with the chance of scooping the owner’s prize. In the afternoon the Club will also holding their Annual Companion Charity Dog Show, so if you have a 4 legged friend why not bring them along. These two events are being held to support a local boy who was born with a complaint known as periventricular leukomalacia brain damage which led to spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy which greatly impairs muscle co-ordination. His mother has revealed such determination to do the very best for her child, and currently has set herself a target to raise £40,000 to enable him to have an operation in the States, that if successful may possibly allow him to walk as opposed to being confined to a wheelchair. Please make a note in your diary and support this event which promises to be full of fun and of course local community clubs and businesses are always invited to have stalls at the event.
