Shared from Pius Joseph. RECEIVING THE FIRE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT THROUGH HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM, EVIDENCED IN TONGUES. If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! Luke 11:13 (NIV) It is relevant here to apprise the person of the God head – THE HOLY SPIRIT. Who then is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Living God and one of the God head. He is the third person of the trinity or God head. He is equal to me in power with the God head. This is a crucial saying, ‘a believer without the Holy Spirit is like a car without fuel/petrol. How can that car move?’ For the purposes of clarity, the Holy Spirit is not a white dove, neither is he fire nor is he is wind but he manifest himself in any of the aforementioned ways. HOW TO RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT EVIDENCED IN TONGUES. It is important to note that the gift of the Holy Spirit is received through asking. You have to ask the Lord to baptise you with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 7:7 the bible says just asked and it shall be given unto you. If you asked God about the gift of the Holy Spirit in faith, you will with certitude the infilling of the Holy Spirit. There are diverse ways of receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It could during an outpouring of the spirit of God in the process of a church service. I have seen that in the church I worshiped. People got baptised in the midst of a service in church. Servants of God could also lay hands on a person and he will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 8:15-17: “When they arrived, they prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.” Again, when in private communion with the Holy Spirit, one may be baptised by the Holy Spirit’s flames. Expectations and desires are expedient to being filled with the incendiary fire of the Holy Spirit. If you desire, the Lord will satiate those desires of your heart. The bible states this in Proverbs 23:18 ‘For surely there is and end; and thine expectation shall not be cut short.’ (KJV) WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO RECEIVE THE FIRE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT? The Holy Spirit can’t dwell in the life of a sinner. The first step towards the filling of the Holy Spirit is to be born again. If you are still unsaved, swimming in your pool of sin, the Holy Spirit can’t dwell in you. It is important for you to be saved before you require the Holy Spirit to fill you. So if you are not saved, you have to be saved first be washed with the precious blood of Jesus. John 13:8. Unless Jesus washes you with his precious blood, you have no part with the Holy Spirit. To receive the Holy Spirit of God, it is consequential that you have a clean and a pure heart. If you make sin a safe haven for your heart, all the anointed hands can be laid on you and the Holy Spirit will not come on you. But if your hand is pure, you can be baptised with the Holy Spirit fire. Isaiah 59:1-2: ‘Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” So to be filled with the Holy Spirit, you must be pure in heart. Forgive people who that have offended you. The Holy Spirit will not dwell in anyone that is harbouring malice and unforgiveness in his/her own heart. Confessed all sins you have committed and ask the Lord to forgive you and purify you. It is good before you ask the Holy Spirit to come into your heart to confess all sins. The most important thing you have to know is that if you have form of sin as stated earlier, the Holy Spirit will not dwell in you. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HAVING THE HOLY SPIRIT/FUNCTIONS THE HOLY SPIRIT PERFORMS IN THE LIFE OF A BELIEVER? The Holy Spirit gives you boldness. We see the pragmatic example of this in the life of Peter. When Peter was with Jesus, he denied him. But when the Holy Spirit came upon him after the day of Pentecost, Peter preached and 3000 people repented at a spot. (Acts 2:41). Further in chapter 4: 8, Peter filled with the Holy Spirit addressed the Sanhedrin. And in verse 18, he made a statement full of temerity to wit: Judge for yourself whether it is right in the sight of God to obey men than God. The Holy Spirit gives you Power to preach the gospel. The Holy Spirit empowers you with power from on high to preach the gospel. Manifold children of God are complaining, I don’t know how to preach to someone. Just be filled with the Holy Spirit and you will madly preach to people like Jesus did and like Paul Apostle also did. When it came upon back then in college, the urge to preach the gospel prevented me from sitting down in one place. I preached the gospel in classes before lectures. In every bus that I entered, the cadence of my voice was heard speaking about Jesus. On the streets, I preach to people. Morning cries are too numerous to mention. The Holy Spirit shows you things about your future. John 16:13 says and the Holy Spirit will show you things to come. It is the Holy Spirit that reveals to you the task that you will fulfil while on the face of this earth. He shows you things about your future and the plans of the devil against you. The Holy Spirit tells you what to do or gives you direction. Romans 8:14. He is the comforter. When the days of flooding comes or when satan comes with all the troubles against your life, the Holy Spirit comfort you. John 14:16. The Holy Spirit reveals to you your calling in life. Many people say they don’t know what to do for the Lord on earth. Just have the Spirit and be filled. You don’t need a prophet to tell you what your calling in life is. The Holy Spirit reveals it to you. 1Cor 12:4. The Holy Spirit reveals to you the word of God and gives you revelation from the bible. John 17:17, 1Cor 2:10. GET FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT NOW. THE DAYS OF HIS OUTPOURING AS STATED IN JOEL 2:28-30 ARE HERE. BE FILLED. FOR AS MANY OF YOU WHO ARE NOT FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT FIRE, MAY YOU BE CONSUMED WITH THE SHAKING FIRE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT RIGHT NOW. MAY THE SPIRIT FILL YOU NOW AS YOU READ THIS POST IN THE NAME OF JESUS.
