Sharing PSA from Minda Emas Harris on a Found Dog post. Some great info about MCAS. They always need fosters / volunteers. After reading this thread, I feel a PSA coming on. It may be helpful to people who have lost or found a pet. This dog was found in Montgomery County. The have their own shelter. On 242, one mile east of 45. There is no SPCA in this county, they are in Houston and would not have taken this or any dog from MoCo. In fact, they dont take even take back dogs adopted from them, if they reside in Montgomery Cty. We have to take in any dog or cat, whose owners wish to relinquish, no matter what. Consequently, we receive over 23,000 animals a year. Most are owner surrenders, even though few people admit that. Its amazing how many people, even in The Woodlands have no idea we are there. Yes, we are a dreaded kill shelter. Tx law mandates we hold the animal 3 days to allow the owner to find it. After that time, the animal can be moved to adoption, or put down. Here is the shocking part!!!, thanks to the most amazing, caring and compassionate foster, volunteer, rescue partners and staff!, that seldom happens. There is volunteer orientation every Saturday and Sunday at noon. Wed welcome your help, at the least a visit may educate you to what really goes on there. I am the Director of the Shelter and frankly, I get annoyed when so many experts are sure an animal entering our doors is doomed. ( Ive been there 8 yrs, only remember one Husky being put down. Had been hit by a car). We are a good Shelter. Still, do NOT bring your pets to us. If you cant keep your promise to them for a life long home, please rehome responsibily. If youve lost a pet, petharbor
