Hello, my name is Brittany and I have an enormous favor to ask of you. I dont know where else to turn. Friday, the 19th, my sisters 37th birthday, she became sick. She had the flu. Saturday night she began having problems breathing. Throughout Sunday she went by ambulance to two different hospitals because she just couldnt breathe and was in so much pain, thinking she had pulled a muscle from coughing so much. The hospitals wouldnt listen to her. Finally at 5pm Sunday, the 21st, they had more scans and discovered that she had a hole in her left lung. They incubated and fully sedated my sister. This was the last time she was ever alive. By midnight that night they told us life flight was on the way, but she wouldnt make it. Well she did. Every step of the way, from the trip there to the operating room where she has holes put in her heart, and tubes through her neck, so a machine could breathe for my sister. Her lung collapsed and her kidneys and liver shut down. Slowly she began to make small improvements. She opened her eyes, could lift her head and arms, move her feet/toes. Slowly she got better.. until Christmas night. She began to completely decline. Her stomach stopped working and the acid in her blood started to increase, They couldnt keep her oxygen up, even with the machine... and it was my choice to let her go. I had to do it. I had no other choice. The has 3 kids, My two nephews (19 and 13) and my niece (18) and a grandson who is the same age as my youngest, 2. I have my 13 year old nephew and my great nephew. Right before all of this she was served an eviction notice. She was behind on rent. My sister was 2 months from graduating with her RN, 2 months. For YEARS she struggled, thats all she knew, and she was 2 months from never having to want or need for anything, and to fully be able to provide for her children and grandchild. She has worked and went to school, 7 days a week, for well over a year now. She did what she had to do. She was the most incredible woman Ive ever known. I always try to help everyone that I can and my sister had the biggest heart possible, shes never met a stranger. She loved everyone, and everyone loved her. She didnt have any life insurance and Im struggling to give my sister the services she so deserves. Itll be $4000 total, just for the funeral expenses. The hospital will not release her body until we pay the funeral home, so until then, my sister is just waiting.. waiting for me to make this happen. We have just a few short days to raise this money but I am determined! I will reach out to everyone that I can. Im not asking for anything more than just help burying my beautiful sister who was so unexpectedly and unfortunately taken from us, from complications from the flu, on December 26, 2014. So many people would see it and maybe some would help. The last thing I said to my sister, and the last thing she heard as I held her hand as she slipped away, was that I will never let her down and I fully intend to keep that promise.
