Sharing an excerpt from one of my stories. Hope you like it: Just a few more seconds, he thought, anticipation buzzing through his bloodstream. He waited behind the curtain as stagehands rushed about making last minute adjustments to the set and sound equipment. Taking his place on a preset mark, the Dark Lord plugged in his ear microphone and tugged on his leather fingerless gloves. Shrugging, he adjusted his shoulders under the weight of his leather jacket for comfort. He signaled to the nearest stage crew to make sure they had their protective headphones on, and they nodded their readiness. The head crewman, a lean fellow in jeans and a black T-shirt, motioned to him with a finger countdown. Three, two, one. Music burst forth from towering amplifiers to either side of the stage in the huge auditorium, spreading out over the waiting crowd. A steady drum beat and the sound of electric guitars rose to match the applause of the audience. Flashing lights of red and purple added to the effect, swirling over the sea of humanity in bright beams. White clouds of ground fog drifted from machines in the floor, creeping across the stage. Two huge panels made to look like medieval wooden doors split in the middle to reveal him. Back-lighting hid his features from the crowd for dramatic effect. He strode onto the stage and focused on the microphone in the center, his steps radiating steely confidence. The crowd roared at the sight of him, shouting out their joy and excitement. His brows lowered, his crystal blue eyes scanning the audience with sensual regard. On cue, he joined his voice to the music the band played behind him, letting his Gift of Song wash over his fans like an ocean wave cresting on the shore. Dark and seductive, he unleashed the power of his voice upon them, swiveling and swaying his body in time with the music.
