Sharing another poem...for my brothers. Nobleman © 2013 Angela Dawn On any given day of the week When you listen to the news You hope that day will be different Maybe hear more balanced views About men like you who are responsible Show self-restraint and sobriety Walk in decency, honor, respectability Contribute to society Make your way to work each day Both college and self-educated Fun does not interfere with business You go in early and dedicated Men like you who cherish women Build up instead of tear down You take pride in being chivalrous If they’re in sweat pants or a ball gown Appreciating them as individuals Knowing each one is not the same Treating them as if they have value Not merely pawns in a game Men like you who choose to be faithful Fully committed to your wives Daring to stand by philosophies Others often criticize Always wearing a knowing smile Since you could instruct them at length On how your bond is not one of weakness Rather one of ultimate strength Men like you who embrace your role As leader of your home Though final decisions lie with you You know you don’t rule alone Never trying to lead through tyranny Or even by directive Love is always the guiding force Nothing else would be effective Men like you who teach their sons Make sure to lend a hand Develop character, instill values Show what it takes to be a man Help them establish and reach their goals Dreams are nothing without action Illustrating by example How to circumvent distraction Men like you who show their daughters How they should be treated Ensuring that she knows her worth Even if called conceited Emphasizing she pay attention To what people say and do Gauging consistency of words and deeds To determine if hearts are true Men like you who equip their children As a result your family respects you Please know you are highly esteemed Even if the media neglects you Battlefield mercy is a rare commodity Your family is your refuge Their love for you will heal the hurts That were caused by subterfuge Men like you who bend over backwards So many people you’ve aided Without headlines or pats on the back Or a desire to be feted Next time you read one of those newspapers With no mention of men like you Know that you’re not invisible to all Many of us see what you do Men like you who are noble men You’re knights in chocolate armor Who bear your knightly responsibilities With great dignity and honor
