Shark Week, 2014 Note Two days ago, I was in the first shark summit, 2014 at Cebu city hall. Its my first time to learn about the one cup of soup that I had some long years ago. Its the Fin Shark Soup! Its no taste. Its served in a small bowl. And, it definitely was expensive for me. How come did I try? Of course, its free and I was so young at that time. So, why not? In Philippines, a marine nature-based tourism is increasing. Shark watching tour is a highlight program for the Visayas Archipelago particularly the Oslob and the Malapascua. Feeding and touching are also marked a great experience in the more fun land- Philippines. Selfie with a shark even is awesome, isnt it? These earlier facts pinpoint two shark issues. I. Killing a huge shark to get two fins for one cup of soup, it effects a healthy ecosystem in the sea. Sharks are the top of predator in coral reefs. II. Changing behavior of sharks by feeding them is also not smart for marine ecosystems. Sharks will try to approach boats that have propellers. That might hurt sharks. Sharks dont distinguish touring boats form other boats. It might lead overfishing as well, due to sharks more approach fishery boats. From now on, I keep these in mind. > Sharks are a wildlife. We should not change their behavior. > Sharks are not a food. Banning shark productions is our responsibility. > Sharks are unitedly on healthy marine ecosystem. Keep them their! And, sharks are cute. They kill human less than other animals (Curiosity, 2014). These lessons also transfer to kids in Baranguy Looc, Mandaue city in this morning. The Basadours group used a storytelling approach. That was fun!!! More information: The Oceana, The Philippines Shark Summit Facebook, The Basadours / Montana
