Today I went to the Lemon Grove Rod & Gun Club Range out in Alpine and shot Sporting clays with my Uncle Petes old Model 12 Winchester. I hit a pitiful 29 of 50 targets. Then I drove out I-8 to Buckman Springs and drove up the dirt road to the top and went quail hunting. I blew my quail call til I was blue in the face but got no replies. I guess they recognize a fraud. I did see some deer tracks. After walking a couple of miles down an old jeep trail and creek bottom I gave up and went back to my car and had some coffee. (Starbucks, of course) and then I broke out my new Ruger 10-22 takedown and got my new Red Dot scope all zeroed in. I riddled several old tin cans. Then I drove back down to the bottom and watched daredevil paragliders sailing back & forth on the updrafts. One landed close to me- a girl! Then I drove home and had leftover spaghetti for dinner and some Francis Coppola Rosso wine which is pretty good. Adieu!
