Sharon Denison shared a post about removing watermarks that turned in to... Cleaning out old pics of the hard drive but having a hard time doing it. I had mentioned I rate mine as soon as they are uploaded and backed up. I go through every image...At a fairly quick speed. A 1 star gets deleted when Im done looking, 2 star, I save for a rainy day but most often gets sent to the recycle bin, 3 gets looked at Within a week or so, 4 star gets looked at within a day or two and 5 star get processed immediately. Thats how I do it. It works well for me and fits nicely into my work flow. The subject is about as diverse as photography is itself. I posted this image I took last evening. I marked it as a 4 because it was soft and lacked any great detail. Instead of deleting, I wanted to show how you can save an image. I made a poor image better... In lightroom 5 I slid the shadows slider all the way right and the highlight slider all the way to the left. I nudged the white slider a tad left and black a tad right, added about 10% vibrance and ... Now heres the tricky part. Most people slide the clarity slider to the right. This adds , well, clarity to your image. If you slide it to the left a bit. It gives you a subtle blurry or soft effect. great for floral or editing females in images. It makes the image go soft instead of sharp. Sometimes it suits an image. In this case it worked. But Ill let you be the judge. I thin increased purple luminance a bit. Then I jumped to CC and I decreased noise, popped the colour a bit, added a dark freestyle vignette and added a little clear boarder. Just wanted to show how with a bit of thought and creativity you can salvage an otherwise... Deletable image. The original is just a Jpeg converted from raw as I always shoot raw. No editing what so ever on it.
