What We Learned From PaPa 1. “Being Pretty” as in “Ya’ll be purty now”, has nothing to do with looks, but rather how one behaves. 2. Sweet Coffee is the Nectar of the Gods, and should only be consumed with at least 4 teaspoons of sugar and, on occasion, heavy whipping cream. 3. Cornbread drenched in milk and syrup is a healthy and nutritious breakfast. 4. Overalls are appropriate for any occasion. 5. The word “titty” is appropriate for polite company, only when referring to the mole on his ear, known as a “rat titty”. 6. An extra long pinky (or thumb) nail has a variety of uses. 7. Six children are five too many. (We did NOT learn birth control methods from him.) 8. Never tell the same story twice where missing fingers are concerned. It keeps them guessing and makes you much more intriguing. 9. There is no limit to the amount of shelves you’ll build for the person you love. 10. Age ain’t nuthin’ but a number.
